Privacy & Terms

Last updated 12 August 2026 · Hearth is made by Boit Technologies (Produsa), Bengaluru, India.

Privacy policy

Hearth exists to keep your family's recipes safe. That only works if the contents of your vault are treated as yours. The short version: your recipes and the photos, videos and voice notes you upload are private to your account unless you deliberately publish a recipe, and we never sell them.

What we collect, and why

Your account

Your email address, and a password hash if you set one. If you sign in with Google or Apple we receive your verified email address (and your name, if you allow it). We use this to identify your vault and to send you sign-in links and receipts. Nothing else.

Your recipes and media

The recipes you save and the originals you upload — photos, videos, voice notes. These are stored in your own isolated area and served only to you, unless you choose to publish a recipe. Publishing shares the text of that recipe under a display name; it never shares your photos, your videos or your email address.

AI processing

When you upload a photo, video or voice note, its contents are sent to our AI providers (OpenAI and/or Anthropic) to read the recipe out of it. They process it to return the result; we do not use your uploads to train models, and we do not sell them. Audio and video are transcribed for the same purpose.

Payments

Payments are handled by Razorpay. We never see or store your card details — only whether a payment succeeded, the amount, and which plan it unlocked.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics to count page views and understand which features are used. It does not receive your recipes or your uploads.

Swiggy (optional)

If you connect Swiggy, we store an access token for your account, server-side, so we can build a cart from a recipe's ingredients. Disconnecting deletes it immediately. We never see your Swiggy password or OTP.

Deleting your account

You can delete your account and everything in it at any time, from Account → Delete my account inside the app. This removes your recipes, every uploaded original, your meal plans, your credits and ledger, any reviews you left, any recipe you published, and all your sessions. It is immediate and cannot be undone.

If you'd rather we did it for you, email [email protected] from your account address and we'll complete it within 30 days.

How long we keep things

Your vault is kept for as long as your account exists — that is the point of the product. Sign-in links expire in 15 minutes, sessions in 30 days. Deleted data is gone from our live systems immediately and from backups within 30 days.

Children

Hearth is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.

Terms of use

Your recipes are yours

You keep ownership of everything you upload. By publishing a recipe to the Global Cookbook you grant us a licence to show that recipe's text to other Hearth users — nothing more, and only until you make it private again.

What you may not publish

Content that is abusive, hateful, sexual, illegal, or that you don't have the right to share. We filter obvious cases automatically, and every published recipe and note can be reported by any user. Reported content is hidden pending review, and accounts that repeatedly break this lose the ability to publish.

Blocking

You can block any cook from inside the app. Their recipes and notes will no longer appear for you.

Plans and payment

Hearth is free for your first three recipes. Beyond that: a monthly plan, an annual plan, or a one-time Founder purchase for the first 1,000 members. AI features (reading a photo, transcribing a voice note) draw on prepaid credits billed at our provider cost plus a 25% margin; your balance is always visible in Account. Prices are shown in your local currency before you pay.

Refunds

If Hearth doesn't do what we said it would, email us within 14 days and we'll refund you. Purchases made through Apple are refunded by Apple under their policy.

Cooking safety

Recipes — including the ones our AI reads out of your uploads, and the dietary labels we show — are provided in good faith but are not verified by a nutritionist. If you have an allergy, always check the ingredient list yourself. We withhold "gluten-free"-style labels whenever we cannot recognise every ingredient, but the responsibility for what you cook and eat remains yours.

Availability

We work to keep Hearth up and your vault intact, but the service is provided as-is without warranty. If we ever have to shut down, we will give you notice and a way to export everything.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of India, with courts in Bengaluru having jurisdiction.
